“Beauty is Truth and Truth, Beauty”

The realm of the artist is the aesthetic imagination, expressed in form, unsullied by dross, turning instead to the ideal, the beautiful, the truthful and the divine for inspiration, transcending the tribulations of material existence so as to impart a lasting satisfaction.

“The Birth of Venus and Other Beauties” explores the ideals of Truth and Beauty in literature, theater, music, poetry and the fine arts.

I write, first and foremost, in the essay form to clarify ideas that appear to be the stems of conclusions I've arrived at, a knitting together of disparate origins.

I write poetry for my own delight in the arranging of musical language in ancient, time-tested forms, harkening back to those models I adore and try in my own small way to keep alive in the minds of others who may be similarly inclined.
